Why Your Immune System is the Key to Healthy Aging

And Why Re:juvenate Pro Targets It at the Root
Here’s a question that changed everything for me: what if most of us are trying to slow aging from the wrong end?
We take supplements for our mitochondria. We take supplements for our telomeres. We take supplements for our gut, our brain, our joints, our hormones. We end up with a drawer full of bottles and a protocol that looks like a pharmacy shelf. And yet the thing that sits underneath all of it — the one system that influences every single hallmark of aging — is the one we’re not directly addressing.
That system is your immune system.
The Immune System Runs the Show
This isn’t just my opinion. It’s the central finding of the 1000 Immunomes Project — a 15-year study out of Stanford University and the Buck Institute, one of the largest human immunology studies ever conducted. Led by Dr David Furman, the research has shown that a dysregulated immune system is the most reliable predictor of how fast you’re aging and how likely you are to develop chronic disease.
They’ve even developed a metric for it called iAge — your inflammatory age. And it turns out your iAge predicts your disease risk better than your actual birthday does.
The reason is straightforward. Your immune system doesn’t just fight infections. It’s the surveillance system for your entire body. It clears out damaged cells before they become cancerous. It manages inflammation so wounds heal and then the inflammation switches off. It maintains the barriers that keep pathogens out of your blood, your brain, and your organs. When it’s working well, everything else works better. When it declines — a process called immunosenescence — everything downstream accelerates.
It Starts Earlier Than You Think
Most people assume immune decline is something that happens in your 60s and 70s. But the thymus gland — the organ that trains your immune cells to tell friend from foe — starts shrinking at puberty. By your mid-20s, it’s already significantly reduced. By your 60s, it’s essentially a small lump of fat that’s barely functioning.
Now layer on the viruses your immune system has to keep contained for life — Epstein-Barr, herpes simplex, CMV, and now COVID. Add environmental toxins, processed food, antibiotics, medications that damage the gut lining, and chronic stress. Your immune system is being overtaxed decades before “old age” arrives.
And then there’s the gut. Around 70–80% of your immune system lives in your gut. When the gut lining breaks down — leaky gut — pathogens that should stay contained start entering your bloodstream. Your immune system reacts, inflammation ramps up, which damages the gut further, which lets more pathogens through. It’s a vicious cycle that drives chronic inflammation — the silent engine behind almost every age-related disease.
What Re:juvenate Pro Actually Does
This is why I co-founded Aevum Labs and developed Re:juvenate Pro. I wanted a single formulation that would go after the immune system itself — not just one piece of it, but the whole architecture. The gut barriers. The immune cell activation. The inflammatory balance. The antioxidant defences. All of it.
Re:juvenate Pro contains four ingredients, each targeting a different layer of immune function. Together, they cover ground that would otherwise require a handful of separate supplements.
Immune Defense Protein (IDP)
IDP is a complex of over 50 bioactive proteins extracted from New Zealand grass-fed cow’s milk. It includes lactoferrin, lactoperoxidase, and dozens of synergistic proteins that work as a team. The key word is selective — IDP kills pathogenic bacteria like Staph and E. coli while leaving your beneficial gut bacteria (Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium) completely unharmed. It also repairs tight junctions in the gut lining, supports mucosal barrier health across the body (gut, lungs, oral cavity, blood-brain barrier), and has been shown in a clinical study to boost influenza-specific immune responses 2–4 times higher than vaccination alone.
Zero lactose. Zero casein. No reported adverse events in over 12 years.
Immunel Colostrum Extract
Immunel is a concentrated extract of the bioactive peptides, growth factors, and nucleotides from colostrum — Nature’s first food for newborn mammals. It contains IGF-1, transforming growth factor, proline-rich peptides, and nucleotides. In research, Immunel doubled natural killer cell activation (the cells that hunt cancer and viruses), cleared 70% of pneumonia bacteria in 24 hours, reduced influenza viral load by 64%, and showed measurable immune activation within one to two hours of consumption. It also supports stem cell release and provides thymic support through proline-rich peptides — a peptide you literally cannot buy anywhere else.
Carnosic Acid (from NZ Rosemary Extract)
Carnosic acid targets CXCL9 — a biomarker identified by the 1000 Immunomes Project as one of the most important indicators of immune aging. Most practitioners worldwide have never even heard of CXCL9 yet, but the research is clear: when it’s chronically elevated, your immune system is aging faster. Carnosic acid lowers CXCL9, activates the NRF2 pathway (which switches on your body’s own antioxidant production — far more powerful than taking antioxidant supplements directly), and provides neuroprotective benefits for brain health. New Zealand rosemary contains higher concentrations of carnosic acid than other global sources.
Kawakawa (Piper excelsum)
Kawakawa is a native New Zealand plant that has been used in Māori traditional medicine for centuries — classified as a taonga (treasure). It is not kava kava — completely different plant. Kawakawa raises IL-10, the anti-inflammatory cytokine that your body produces less of as you age. When IL-10 is low, your immune system can’t switch off its inflammatory response after a threat has passed — which is exactly what happens in autoimmune conditions, long COVID, and chronic inflammaging. Kawakawa also modulates COX-2 (the enzyme targeted by ibuprofen, but without the gut-damaging side effects), inhibits NF-κB (the master switch for inflammatory cytokines), and soothes the gut with antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory effects.
Why the Combination Matters
The four ingredients aren’t just stacked together — they work at different levels simultaneously:
IDP stays at the mucosal surface of your gut, repairing the physical barrier and killing pathogens at the gate. It doesn’t cross into your bloodstream — it’s your frontline defence.
Immunel’s smaller peptides and growth factors do cross the gut barrier and work systemically — activating natural killer cells, stimulating stem cell release, and supporting thymic function throughout your body.
Carnosic acid addresses the inflammatory chemokine CXCL9 that the latest longevity research identifies as a key aging driver, while switching on your body’s own antioxidant machinery through NRF2.
Kawakawa restores the anti-inflammatory resolution that aging depletes (IL-10), calms gut inflammation, and regulates the NF-κB master switch from the top of the cytokine cascade.
Surface defence. Systemic activation. Inflammatory rebalancing. Antioxidant upregulation. All in one formulation.
Who Benefits
Re:juvenate Pro was designed to be safe and effective across a wide range of people and conditions. It was originally formulated for my 84-year-old mother — a fragile woman who has survived cancer, E. coli infection, gastrointestinal bleeding, and immune collapse. If it’s safe for her, it’s safe for most people.
It’s particularly relevant if you’re dealing with gut health issues (leaky gut, SIBO, dysbiosis, food sensitivities), autoimmune conditions, frequent infections or slow recovery from illness, post-viral fatigue or long COVID, aging-related immune decline, or if you simply want to address aging at its root rather than chasing symptoms.
A Note on Safety
IDP and Immunel have no known contraindications and over 12 years of use without reported adverse events. A few common-sense cautions apply to the botanical ingredients:
Blood thinners: If you’re on warfarin or other anticoagulants, stick to two capsules per day and have your doctor monitor your INR. The effect is minimal at this dose, but it’s worth being cautious. Stop seven days before any surgery.
Pregnancy: Not recommended during pregnancy or while trying to conceive. Insufficient safety data on the botanical ingredients.
Kidney disease: The botanicals are processed through the kidneys. If you have known renal issues, stick to one to two capsules per day.
Blood pressure or diabetes medications: Re:juvenate Pro may actually improve your numbers, which means you might need less medication over time. Monitor with your doctor.
Dairy intolerance: The extraction process removes lactose and the proteins that cause most dairy allergies. Zero lactose in IDP. Our own team members who are dairy intolerant take it daily without issues.
How to Take It
Full dose: 3 capsules per day (for active health challenges or therapeutic support).
Maintenance: 2 capsules per day (for ongoing immune and longevity support).
Reduced dose: 1–2 capsules per day (if on blood thinners or with kidney concerns).
This is the foundational supplement in any health protocol. It’s the first thing in and the last thing you’d ever take out.
The Bottom Line
You can keep adding supplements to address each symptom and each hallmark of aging one by one. Or you can go upstream and address the system that controls all of them.
Re:juvenate Pro targets immunosenescence — the aging of the immune system — with four ingredients that repair your barriers, reactivate your immune cells, rebalance your inflammatory signalling, and switch on your body’s own antioxidant defences. It’s safe for fragile elderly patients and powerful enough for complex clinical cases. It replaces multiple supplements with one formulation. And it’s backed by the science coming out of the world’s largest immune aging study.
Your immune system is the foundation. Everything else is downstream.
